Dhoom 3 has done it. After being hyped to the sky, especially in last couple of months, a core expectation from the film was to score heavily. This is what actually happened when the film started his journey with a record breaking start. With over 33 crore coming in on the first day, and that too with just the Hindi version, the film broke the record created by Chennai Express just a few months back.
The difference though lied in the fact that while the Shah Rukh starrer had managed that on Eid holiday, Aamir Khan enjoyed this feat on a non-holiday.
Such huge was the benchmark set by the film on the very first day that there had to be some fall in collections on Saturday. However, the film saw a surge on Sunday which saw huge moolah coming in. As a result, the film managed to come in the vicinity of the 100 crore mark, hence turning out to be a quick and huge money spinner all the way. The actuals are still being compiled and will be updated soon.

With this, Dhoom 3 has made a record of entering the coveted 100 crore club in just 3 Days, beating SRK starrer Chennai Express that entered the club after adding its paid previews collections!
There is some more fun awaited, what with a very huge Christmas holiday round the corner on Wednesday. That would ensure yet another major day in the upwards of 20 crore which would be immense indeed for this Aditya Chopra production. The way film is going, while 200 crore is given, the challenge would be to cross the 226 crore total of Chennai Express.
The film has received largely positive reviews for its fun quotient though a few critics have kept it in the average range due to various unbelievable episodes that fill in the film. However the fact remains that for a large section of audience, this Vijay Krishna Acharya directed film has worked and even for those it hasn’t, a theatrical visit has ensured good enough footfall to result in some high numbers already. With no major release for a fortnight, Dhoom 3 would continue to create Dhoom at the box office.

Dhoom 3 on its opening day created a rage at the box office and with its second day collection pouring in, the film seems to have witnessed a negligible drop on its second day. Early estimates suggest that the film has earned in the range of 34 to 35 crores on its second day, which is excellent.
This YRF venture, starring an ensemble cast including Aamir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Uday Chopra, now stands at a total domestic box office collections in the range of whooping 70 to 71 crores.
If the film manages to maintain the same range consistently even today, it will surpass Chennai Express‘ record of the fastest 100 crore entrant. Chennai Express entered the distinguished 100 crore mark in 3 days which included the film’s paid preview amount as well. But Dhoom 3 despite the absence of paid preview, is looking to beat the same in lesser time. However, it is yet for the film’s Sunday collections to confirm whether Dhoom 3 can attain the same or not.

Dhoom 3 kicked off to a monumental start yesterday. Contrary to the belief that the film will remain only palatable to the multiplex audiences, it garnered wonderful response from the single screens too.
The film on its first day has managed to collect approximately 32 crores from its Hindi shows alone. Since the film released in Tamil and Telugu as well separately, the film earned another 4 crores from the vernacular releases. With that the film, as per early estimates, has on its opening day raked a stupendous sum of 36 crores at the domestic box office.

It is quite a commendable start as the film, being a non-holiday release, managed to beat Chennai Express‘ opening day record (which saw an Eid release). Chennai Express had so far held the record of highest opening day collections (33.10 crs) and with Dhoom 3‘s release, this film claimed its record.
Reports suggests that the film’s Telegu version is faring better than Tamil but in most mass based circuits, the film is determined to remain stellar with the chance of beating Chennai Express‘ record of fastest 100 crore.
Well, not just that, but as per early reports this Aamir Khan starrer has high chances to create history by registering the highest box office collections ever on a single day, beating Krrish 3‘s record (35.91 crs).
Stay tuned as the actuals will be updated soon!

As expected, R… Rajkumar opened
well at the box office. In fact the footfalls as well as the
collections were pretty much as per the plan, what with around 50% opening resulting in around 9 crore coming on the first day. Now this is the highest opening that a Shahid Kapoor film has ever taken and second highest ever for Prabhu Dheva after Rowdy Rathore
Such collections were always on the cards, considering the songs (Gandi Baat, Saree Ke Fall Sa)
had done the trick while the promos were accepted too. Oh yes, there
were spoilers in the party though, what with majority of critics panning
the film with some of the worst reviews of the year reserved for it.
There were a handful of average and good reviews too but largely, there
wasn’t any chance given to the film. However, audience had a choice of
its own and this was reflected in some consistent numbers that the film
gained over the weekend.
As a result, around 29 crores came over the weekend for R… Rajkumar
which has given the film a good chance to fight it out during the
weekdays. Solo release as well as absence of any competition whatsoever
has helped the film’s prospects and since there is hardly any
competition in the coming week, R… Rajkumar should continue to find audience, especially in the single screens. This must indeed be good news for Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha who were hunting for a good earner this year.
Other release of the week, Club 60
got good reviews and sparse release, hence resulting in hardly any
collections coming its way. It would soon be hunting for audience in the
home video circuit.

Bullett Raja on its 1st Saturday maintained the same range of its Friday income. The film went on to make 7.10 crores
at the domestic box office on Saturday, as per early estimates. Though
the actual figures are still in process of compilation, the film’s total
income is in the range of 14.10 crores at the domestic box office.
Tigmanshu Dhulia first outright attempt at commercial cinema received lukewarm response from both public and critics. Though it went off to an average start, the film’s essential problem now lies in the fact that it failed to score up on the opening weekend. Usually the first days are the prime time and deciding factor for any film.If the film remains same on Sunday as well, it will make a business of 22 crores’ average in the first weekend, which isn’t exemplary.

Ramleela by the conclusion of its second week at the box office raked up a cumulative collections of 103 crores. Earning consistently in the range of 1 crore, the film now stands at an overwhelming amount of 103 crores in merely 2 weeks’ run at the domestic box office.
The film with that topples over both Race 2 and Grand Masti’s Lifetime run at the box office. With Race 2sealing up its total collections at 102 crores and Grand Masti at 102.50 crores, Ramleela has now surpassed both at the domestic box office. Ramleela by end of its Friday collections is also expected to defeat the lifetime moolah of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Though the official figures are still being compiled, there is a solid chance the film will not wrap up its lifetime collections in its 3rd week as well.

Bullett Raja on its opening day at the box office made an earning of 7 crores nett. The film that released this Friday received mixed reaction at the box office on its 1st day managing a passable opening day box office collections.
Most of the film’s income came from U.P and Rjasthan, because of a higher relatbility of the film in that region given its milieu. Surprisingly the film did not soar much in Delhi-N.C.R and Haryana ciruits either where it had the scope of performing well. It remained dull at the multiplexes as compared to single screens where it witnessed a better pick up. However it is yet to be seen whether the film picks up on Saturday and Sunday.

Bullett Raja continued to maintain the low opening trend of
last week. Failing to show any major traction, the movie barely saw
30-35% occupancy on its Opening Day at the domestic box office.
Multiplexes and Single Screens both showed a similar low trend in
opening shows today.
The movie will however do better than the 2 movies released last week, i.e. Singh Saab The Great and Gori Tere Pyaar Mein! as
it has released on a wider scale as compared to them. Let’s watch how
the chemistry between Saif Ali Khan and Sonakshi Sinha does at the
domestic box office.

Singh Saab The Great made 16.25 Crores on its first weekend at the domestic box office. The movie has done pretty well compared to the other release this weekend Gori Tere Pyaar Mein!
The movies daily breakdown for the 1st weekend is as follows:
Friday: 5.50 Crores
Saturday: 5 Crores
Sunday: 5.75 Crores
With Sunny Deol’s brilliant stunt
execution on screen, the film has a rustic appealing flavor to it which
is making it ring with most in mass-based circuits of PUnjab, U.P,
Delhi-NCR, C.I-Berar and even Rajasthan. Though the film failed dismally
in the Southern States as well as West Bengal, it can be expected to
hold on well on the weekdays for its popularity in the single screens.

Singh Saab The Great on its 1st Saturday showed a marginal pick up at the box office. According to early estimates, the film earned in the range of 10 crores to 12 crores on Saturday. While the film’s first day performance wasn’t exemplary, this one was specifically fashioned keeping in mind tastes of single screen audiences. The film has so far earned in the range of 15 crores to 17 crores at the domestic box office. Though the official figures are still being compiled, the numbers will remain in the same range.
Anil Sharma and Sunny Deol’s association has always worked wonders at the box office. This time too, the duo have tried to create magic by keeping the film simple and impactful. Though the box office performance of the film won’t be mesmeric, it will surely be on the better side.
Gori Tere Pyaar Mein remained low at the box office as compared to the other films running alongside. WhileSingh Saab The Great was wonderful in many circuits like UP, Delhi- NCR, CI, Berar and Rajasthan, Gori Tere Pyaar Mein thjat was targeted mainly at the multiplexes suffered a beating from last week’ film Ramleela that is impressing all and sundry. As per early estimates, the film on its 1st Saturday earned in the range of 6 crores. Though the figures are still being compiled, the film has far made an income in the range of 9.50 crores at the domestic box office. The dull response is alarming because the film belongs to a genre that is relatable to a large chunk of young India. There is little chance that the film will show any pick up on Sunday thus stagnating its first weekend amount in the lower range. Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan have been amply praised for their work but the film will find it difficult to soar at the box office with such an underwhelming beginning.
Krrish 3 till the end of its 4th weekend is on the verge of dwindling at the box office. The film that earned with a relentless gusto has made 240.10 crores so far. The film’s collections are now ranging with 30 lacs to 40 lacs daily signifying that it has run its due course at the box office.

Singh Saab The Great
on its opening day at the box office kicked off with a good start,
better than this Friday’s other release. Mainly a single screen film,
the film on its 1st Friday made an earning in the range of 5.50 crores to 6 crores, as per early estimates.
The film with great mass value fared the best in U.P, Delhi and Punjab
circuits. Being set in the same region, the relatability factor will
work in the favor. Though the film’s performance was dismal in Southern
states and Bengal, good performance in Bihar, Rajasthan and C.I will
help the film’s box office tempo.

Ramleela
has done tremendously well at the box office. While the writing was
clear on the wall after weekend itself that the film would stay stable
during the weekdays, the kind of moolah that it collected has been
unbelievable, what with 82 crore coming in one week flat. Now these are indeed excellent collections for a film where the leading man’s biggest success so far (Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl) had fallen short of 40 crore while the director too hadn’t seen such kind of collections for a film of his.
The film has truly resurrected Sanjay Leela Bhansali in a major way because though he has seen a bigger success (Rowdy Rathore)
as a producer, the true challenge was to deliver as a director. This
has happened now and his next film would be truly awaited.
There was a lot that that the film had to accomplish in one week flat since Gori Tere Pyaar Mein! and Singh Saab The Great
would take up a good chunk of multiplex and single screens
respectively. In that regard, while 100 crore is all set to be scored by
producers Eros and Bhansali, it would be interesting to see how far
does it go from here.
Meanwhile Deepika Padukone has turned
out to be the only actor ever to have delivered four centuries in the
making in a single calendar year. No other hero or heroine has ever
managed to do that ever since the 100 crore club came into existence!
As for Rajjo,
the film couldn’t start well and there was nothing going for it after
the initial reports started coming by. With word of mouth not really
helping the cause either, the Kangana Ranaut starrer has folded up at the 2 crore mark.

Ramleela began the box office journey with a whopping start on weekday. Earning 8.60 crores on its 1st Monday, as per early estimates, the film will now stand at a cumulative income of 61.20 crores approximately.
Despite withstanding heavy pressure from Krrish 3
along with the controversial release the film faced, it has been
performing phenomenally well at the box office in both domestic and
international markets. The film’s run so far is seeming confident and it
can be expected to tread into the hit zone if it maintains its
consistent earning spree at the box office.
Krrish 3 has managed to hold ground despite the release of Ramleela. Running in its 3rd week currently, the film on its 3rd Monday earned in the range of 1.50 crores.
Though holding on stable, the signs of its dwindling at the box office
is becoming more and more evident with each passing day. The film will
now stand at an overwhelming domestic total of 236 crores at the box office.
Krrish 3 that emerged as Bollywood’s indigenous sci-fi
superhero product truly wrote for itself a success story at the box
office. Emerging as a hit, the film will wrap up its lifetime run within
the 250 crore mark. Setting newer heights at the box office for films that will follow, Krrish 3 stands proudly as the highest earning Bollywood film ever.

It was predicted in this column last week that Ramleela would take an opening in the range of 50%-60% and bring in around 15 crore on the first day. This is exactly how it happened as Ramleela brought above our predictions i.e. 15.85 crores on
Friday and then further gained strength over the weekend with good
footfalls coming in across the country. As a result, over 52.60 crore
were earned in the opening weekend itself, hence bringing the film in
the safe zone and a sure-shot hit in the making. All that remains to be
seen now is the distance that it would cover in days to follow.
As things stand today, the collections should be good on weekdays as
well since audience feedback has ranged from decent to good while
critical acclaim has been quite positive across most quarters. Moreover,
the industry too has shown support towards this film which means all
that Ramleela needs to do is build on the positive stage and setting that it has received.
There are also some interesting statistics at play here. The film is not just Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s biggest opener till date (and his first success after Saawariya and Guzaarish) but also the highest lifetime earner in three days flat after surpassing Devdas (33 crore) and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (20 crore).
Of course these films were released many years ago and inflation comes
into account as well. Still, in absolute numbers, Bhansali has seen big
money flowing in after years.

Ramleela
on its second day i.e. 1st Saturday opened to a fiery start at the box
office. Early estimates suggest that the film’s second day collections
are in the range of 17.5-18 crores. The actual figures
of the film are still being compiled and that might vary the collection
as well. As of now, the film has so far made a hefty earning in the
range of 33.35-33.85 crores at the domestic box office.
Hailed by critics as one of the best film of Sanjay Leela Bhansali,
this one came across as a potent commercial film with a high
entertaining value. Claiming a good command over both multiplexes and
single screens, the film’s good start will be instrumental in taking it a
long way at the box office.
Ramleela should stand in the range of 50 crore opening weekend, if it picks up on Sunday!
Rajjo, as expected, did not fare well at the box office. Earning 1.5 crores on its opening day i.e. 1st Friday, the movie just raked in 2 crores on second day i.e. 1st Saturday at the box office.
This Kangana Ranaut starrer has so far reached the domestic total of 3.5 crores
at the box office, which is extremely low. The film has received dull
reviews from critics and a negative word of mouth will deter its growth
at the box office.
As Ramleela is growing rapidly, mesmerizing both single screens audiences and multiplex viewers, Rajjo has full chances of getting wiped out within its first week at the box office. Even a 10 crores lifetime business seems difficult for this flick!

Hrithik Roshan’s Krrish 3 has broken the lifetime record of Shah Rukh Khan’s Chennai Express after adding its 3rd Friday collections at the Domestic Box Office. The movie that made a business of 225.85 crores in 2 weeks, added more 2.40 crores in its kitty, taking its domestic total to 228.25 crores at the Box Office. Yes, the collections dropped heavily on 15th Day, due to the new release Ramleela.
Nevertheless, this Rakesh Roshan directorial now stands as Bollywood’s Highest Grosser, a record which SRK-Deepika Padukone starrer had made quite recently, with a total domestic lifetime collections of 226.70 crores.
Krrish 3 sustained on 3rd Friday, despite facing a screen crunch with Goliyon Ki Ras Leela – Ramleela and Rajjo. The movie performed well in multiplexes, while single screen audience preferred going to the Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh starrer.
Krrish 3 will touch 235-240 crores nett lifetime!
This week’s new release Ramleela
managed to open at the Box Office on an impressive start, despite the
legal controversy which disrupted its booking in several circuits in the
country! As per early estimates Ramleela collected approx 15 crores on Day 1 i.e. on its 1st Friday at the Domestic Box Office.
It performed good in Multiplexes especially in Delhi, Mumbai, C.I and
U.P circuits. The movie picked up exceedingly well in the late evening
and night shows, but went a little low in the early evening shows, due
to the crucial test match of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s
final match.
Nevertheless, the film’s music has been liked by all, besides the
response to its trailer and other promos was good enough to garner
audience’s interest to the theaters. A good pick up on Saturday and
Sunday is expected.
Note: The actuals will soon be updated!

Krrish 3
continued its earning spree at the same pace even on its 2nd Tuesday.
Remaining in the same range, the film maintained itself steadily making
an income of 5 crores at the Domestic Box Office. With that the total collections of Krrish 3 has now snowballed to a domestic total of 216.60 crores at the box office.
The film with each passing day is budging closer to the unattainable mark created by Chennai Express. For a film of Krrish 3‘s caliber, beating the lifetime income of Chennai Express
is not entirely implausible. However, the film might prove to be a less
lucrative venture given its high production expenses which is hindering
it emerge as a profitable film so far.
